Pastors & Staff
Our Pastors
Pastor Bill came to serve at Good Shepherd in September of 2021. Ordained in 1992, he spent most of his ministry in eastern North Dakota, serving in Lisbon, Fargo, and the Synod office as Bishop. Most recently, he and his wife, Louise, served for nearly seven years at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Mesa and Gold Canyon, AZ. Watching the scriptures come to life in the eyes of worshippers and those in Bible/book studies bring some of his greatest satisfaction in ministry. “The Word still becomes flesh in the lives of people as they live out their God-given callings. Helping them to discover and live out those callings is deeply rewarding.”
Married for nearly 35 years, they are parents of two grown daughters (and their husbands), they have added the roles of “Papa” and “Grandma” to their resumes twice. Pastor Bill enjoys fixing things… all kinds of things. When given the choice, he can be found playing with the “grands”, golfing, doing projects, or trying to be a Vikings/Colts/Twins fan.
Pastor Bob joined the staff of Good Shepherd in August 2013. He began his ministry life in 2001 as a member of a three-person youth ministry team at Bethel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton and moved into seminary from there. He was ordained in that church and received his call to Prairie Rivers Parish in Wyndmere. Since 2011, Pastor Bob was the lead pastor in that four-point parish. “I thank God for calling me into such a dynamic ministry so far and I am excited for all that He continues to bring into my life,” Pastor Bob stated.
Pastor Bob has three daughters, all grown, and one son, in ninth grade. He and his wife Julie have been married for 27 years. They have a variety of pets, mostly acquired by their daughters. Pastor Bob enjoys riding motorcycle, hunting and fishing, and music of all kinds. “I am a fairly decent singer and am on a journey to teach myself some chords on the guitar. My calling seems to bring me in contact with lots of youth and we seem to get along well. I also feel very comfortable in a worship leadership setting,” Pastor Bob explained.
In March 2024, the congregational council of Good Shepherd offered an interim, contract position to Pastor Larry Giese, recently retired from Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center as their chaplain. He has served in different capacities in the Bismarck/Mandan area for the last several years. Pastor Larry excels at visitation and pastoral care, which are the main foci of his work among us at Good Shepherd. Working up to 8 hours a week is the agreement to which he is committed. If you have need of a visit or know a fellow member of Good Shepherd who may, please call Pastor Larry to let him know or have that person give a call.
